The talk around 28 Years Later this week is loud for a reason. After The Bone Temple landed and started getting strong reactions, the studio officially moved forward with a third film. This is no longer a “let’s see how this does” situation. They’re building a trilogy.

What makes this interesting is the very real conversation about Cillian Murphy coming back. Not a wink wink cameo rumor, actual talks. That matters. Horror fans remember how 28 Days Later hit different because it felt raw, angry, and grounded. Bringing Murphy back is not nostalgia bait, it’s continuity respect.

This franchise always worked best when it felt like a world decaying in real time, not a theme park ride. If they keep that energy and don’t over polish it, this could end up being one of the few modern horror trilogies people talk about without rolling their eyes. I’m cautiously excited.
