Deadites are back in theaters with “Evil Dead Burn”

“Evil Dead Burn” hit theaters nationwide on July 10, putting one of the year’s biggest horror franchise plays directly into the second weekend of July. The new film is directed by Sébastien Vaniček, and release coverage billed it as a fresh chapter of Deadite carnage.

Horror release calendars always have smaller titles moving in and out of digital platforms, but when an “Evil Dead” movie lands, it changes the temperature. This franchise has enough blood in its history that every new entry shows up with expectations already hanging over it. Nobody comes into one of these looking for polite restraint.

The early framing around “Evil Dead Burn” leaned hard into savagery, family-level chaos, and a bigger theatrical push than most of the week’s other horror titles. That feels right for this series. “Evil Dead” is supposed to be loud, mean, excessive, and a little funny in a way that makes the gore hit even harder.

So one of this week’s clearest horror-industry stories is simple: the Deadites are back on big screens, and summer horror just got a lot messier.
