Peachfuzz found more tapes

Mark Duplass is putting that damn wolf mask back on.

The trailer for Season 3 of “The Creep Tapes” arrived this week, with Shudder setting a two-episode premiere for September 15. Two additional episodes will follow each week through September 29 on Shudder and AMC+.

The guest list includes Kate Siegel, Nic Hamilton, Elliott Fullam and Ora Duplass, Mark Duplass’ daughter. The season digs through another batch of recordings from Peachfuzz’s secret collection, which means another lineup of people agreeing to meet the most socially alarming man alive and somehow not leaving immediately.

That discomfort has always been the secret weapon of “Creep.” Josef does not need a haunted house or an elaborate trap room. He talks. He overshares. He invades personal space. He waits for the other person to decide whether they are overreacting.

Then, unfortunately, they discover they were underreacting.

Season 2 expanded the character’s history and dropped more clues around his family, so the new episodes have plenty of dirt left to dig through. Whether the series ever gives clean answers about Josef is another question. I am not sure I even want it to.

Some horror villains get less frightening once you understand them. Peachfuzz is probably better left slightly unexplained and standing much too close to the camera.
