SLASHER Just Dropped Its Biggest Update Yet, and Horror Fans Have a Lot to Explore

SLASHER has been around since 2019, but the platform just rolled out the biggest update in its seven-year history, and there is a lot packed into it.

The horror-first social platform spent roughly two years revising nearly every part of the experience.

The biggest shift is not simply adding more features. SLASHER has pushed harder into what it has always been built around: giving horror fans a place to connect, keep up with people they care about, and discover more of the genre without leaving the community.

The Movies section has been completely rebuilt. There is now a dedicated Watch Now area that shows which horror movies are streaming in a user’s country and where they can watch them. Fans can also search, sort, and watch thousands of horror movie trailers directly through SLASHER.

Movie pages now pull a lot more information together in one place, including ratings, reviews, streaming availability, other members who are fans of the movie, recommendations, top reviewers, and movie lists.

The Books section received a major rebuild too. Members can save titles to their own lists, browse lists created by other users, and see reviewer rankings for books. The idea is simple: if you find someone whose taste lines up with yours, it becomes easier to find your next read.

Then there is Gore Factor™.

SLASHER’s own rating system lets members rate how gory a movie or book is using a scale of one to five blood spatters. Users can also browse and sort titles based on the gore level they prefer.

Founder Damon Della Greca explained the thinking behind it:

“There are a lot of horror fans who absolutely love to see lots of blood and guts. Of course, there are also people who don’t care to see much of it. I wanted to add a way for people to know how much blood and guts they can expect in a movie or book, so they can decide if they want to check it out or not.”

That is a very horror-fan-specific problem to solve, which is exactly where SLASHER has always made the most sense.

The platform originally launched on May 31, 2019 as a dedicated home for horror fans, creators, and horror imagery that can run into problems on mainstream social platforms. Since then, it has expanded into movie and book discovery, horror events, reviews, and tools for independent creators while keeping the community itself at the center.

“This is a major step forward for Slasher,” Della Greca said. “Hopefully, everyone likes the way it’s evolving. There’s still a lot more on the way.”

The new update is available now.

Horror season may have just wrapped up on the calendar, but SLASHER was never built around one month of the year anyway.
